Solar Power Energy
How solar power energy is made
This article will try to explain solar power energy in its most simplistic form.
Solar energy is heat and light, which has the qualities of waves and individual particles called photons across a massive range of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Basically this means solar power energy is produced by rays of light and heat which is given off by the by the sun, contrary to popular belief you do not nessecarily need purely the sun, light is just as important for solar power.
Using up to the minute technology, it is possible for solar users to collect these rays and convert it into solar energy power which can be used as an alternative energy source for commercial or domestic appliances.
FACT:
All the energy stored in the worlds reserves of coal, oil, and natural gas is matched by the energy from approx 20 days of sun.
How to transfer energy from the sun to our home:
Thermal Energy
Solar energy can come in two main forms firstly thermal energy also known as solar heat energy, thisis the sun’s ability to provide elevated levels of heat in the form of radiation. Thermal energy is used to heat things like water for your house, swimming pools,SmallInternal space in buildings the list goes on.
Thermal heating systems often use a collector to trap the sun’s light and radiation, and then a fan or pump circulates the heat to the fluid.
Electric Energy
Electric energy, also known as photovoltaic energy, is energy that is used to make electricity directly from the sun. Electric energy uses solar cells to soak up the sunlight, which in turn transmits an electrical charge through metal wires and circuits. Any extra energy can be stored in a battery and used when there is no sun.
Solar electric energy can be used for such things as lighting, small appliances, batteries for cellphones, watches anything that uses a battery really they even use solar power energy for spacecraft.
Energy is transformed from one form to another by a device known as a transducer. A microphone converts the sound waves to electricity. To convert solar radiation to electricity we have to begin with a solar panel.
Solar photo voltaic cells are just like semi-conductors, which have electrical transmission properties existing between conductors like metal or salt water with insulators like rubber.
Solar panels are made with sheets of liquid silicon, the primary element in sand, with impurities added like phosphorus that allow electrons to flow. When the kinetic solar power energy of moving photons hits a photo voltaic cell, a flow of electrons starts that will be drawn off by a pair of wires, creating direct current just like a battery.
FACT:
Every day more solar power energy falls to the Earth than is possible for the total amount of energy the planet’s 6 billion inhabitants could consume in 27 years. Currently we only harness about 1% of this fallen energy.
