Great idea with the Fresnel lens. It is very large, very thin and cheap, compared to a classic glass lens. If you would have some black aluminium where the sun rays hit and a thermal insulator in between the hot side and cold side, I think the efficiency could improve.

wow.. this is impressive.. surely this would be an ideal solution for pumping water from underground wells, and irrigation for arid areas in poor but hot countries.. surely there’s a lot of ‘free’ electricity here.. couldnt this even be utilized in our average back yards for a good supplement to our electricity needs..(or would it not produce enough wattage?)

Stirling cycle is …
Stirling cycle is actually the only cycle that I have heard of that can theoretically achieve carnot efficiency. Which means has the potential to be efficient. The reason that less efficient cycles are in use for most of our power is economics. Making an well-built Stirling engine requires very expensive materials and it does not lend itself as easily to fossil fuels as other cycles.
